Psychedelic Jazz night

Last night me and Malli went out with a lovely friend of ours- Sam the man and one of his friends. We went to see some sort of an australian jazz band "The Necks". Im a fan of "big band" jazz, but this was something completely different. They start off vey slow and silent and then increase the music, like, they building up and create this psychedelic tension which just gets more and more and more. I must say I enjoyed it and had a great night.

Here's some pictures we took to illustrate the whole thing.

Omalleys got talent

Last year I performed in O'malley's talent competition. O'malley's was our local pub in Kings Kross, kinda like our second home. Anyway, a few of you already seen this, but I just want to highlight this moment.. You must keep in mind that the whole idea behind my performances was to do something different. NOT to be one of those girls who get up on the stage looking cute, singing a cute song and think they can sing- BORING!!!!

I know I can't sing very well, but at least I dared to go up on the stage and do my thing, I picked odd songs, danced like a geek on LSD and the fucking singing... it's soo BAD, but hey this ones is on me! enjoy and laugh!

(and believe it or not I actually got a golden ticket for the final)

GooN PoNG

Goon Pong is according to me one of the best drinking games ever! You have a lot of fun, find friends very easy and get smashed quicker than you can say GooN PoNG! I have so many funny memories from playing it and lost a lot of them as well! But man, nothing beats a goon pong game on a hot summer day with your friends!!

And here are the GooN PoNG RULES.
(Please remind me if I forgot any of them)

You need: 20 cups, two ping pong balls, a table, goon or what you prefer to drink ,two teams, each with 2-3 players.

Each team get 10 cups to place like the bowling pins on the end of the table.

The game’s point is to hit the opposite teams cups with the Ping Pong balls. As soon as you hit a cup the opposite team have to drink that cup and it’s out of the game. The team who get rid of all the cups first, WIN. And the loosing team has to drink all the remaining cups on the opposite side of the table and the ones on their own side.  The winning team stays on for another game and gets the opportunity to get even drunker!

>> You can throw or bounce the ball in to the cups.

>> Each team gets to throw two balls in one round.

>> If you throw it the opposite team are not allowed to touch the ball.

>> If you bounce it they are allowed to slap the ball away before it hits the cups.

>> If you hit a cup when you throw it in, it’s a single drink.

>> If you hit a cup with a bounce it’s a double drink

>> If you hit the same cup with two balls it’s a double drink and you get an extra Shot.

>> If you hit a cup with a bounce and a second ball it’s a full cup.

>> If you hit the same cup with three balls it’s a full cup.

Each team can do one restack whenever they want during the game.

If you knock a cup over without the ball in it, the cup is filled up and placed where it stood before.

If you knock your own cups over during a game you have to fill it up, drink it, fill it up again and place it where it stood before.

If you slap away a ball that wasn’t bounced, the opposite team gets to throw again.

GooN PoNG forever!

Funeral of the year

One of the worlds most interesting and amazing rock duo The White Stripes has announced that they’re splitting up and will do no more recordings or perform live.

It is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve What is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way.” – The White Stripes

”Both Meg and Jack hope this decision isn’t met with sorrow by their fans but that it is seen as a positive move done out of respect for the art and music that the band has created” – The White Stripes

The white stripes formed 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. The group consists of the songwriter Jack White (vocals, guitar, and keyboards) Meg White (drums and occasional vocals). Jack and Meg White were previously married to each other, but are now divorced. But since the very beginning they confused their fans for being brother and sister.

The white stripes signature dominates of the colors red, white and black witch they use in a very playful way.  Some say the combination of the colors came from children’s toys or peppermint candy, and according to Jack is it "the most powerful color combination of all time, from a Coca-Cola can to a Nazi banner.”

No 3 also have a big role for The White Stripes. Jacks philosophy is that no 3 seem to be the perfect connection in life and created the band around it. Songwriting is storytelling, melody, and rhythm which ends up in 3. 3 colors, 3 instruments, 3 chords, Their music is based on blues and rock’n’roll and traditional blues songs have three lines per verse, which The White Stripes exemplify in many songs. Jack even started a record label called “Third man records”.  And I guess he’s right, 3 is the magic number.

The White Stripes released 7 albums:

The White Stripes (1999) De Stijl (2000) White Blood Cells (2001) Elephant (2003) Get Behind Me Satan (2005) Icky Thump (2007) Under Great White Northern Lights (2010)

Singles from the albums among heaps of other good songs:

Lets shake hands, The big three killed my baby, Hotel Yorba, Fell in lve with a girl, Seven nation army, I just don know what to do with my self, The hardest button to button, My doorbell..

Bloody amazing albums, which all should be in everyone’s iTunes library.

I do respect their decision to split up and I really like their way of thinking about their music. But I can’t hide that I’m disappointed that I’ll never see them live. And It’s really a shame that such a playful, cool, groundbreaking band has  dissolved. We will definitely see and hear more from Jack White with his other projects The Raconteurs and The dead weather. But I doubt that we’ll see more of sweet innocent Meg, which breaks my heart.

Anyway I will still live on the hope that one day The White Stripes will rise from the dead, reunite and make more of their awesome music and live performances.

Farewell The White Stripes, One of the most fucking amazing bands in history.
