Movie of the week

Coffee and cigarettes directed by Jim Jarmush (2003) is a movie that consist 11 short stories in black and white which all share coffee and cigarettes as a common tread. A bunch of famous people meet up for coffee and cigarettes to discuss obsessions, joys, addiction to life, music, fame among many other subjects that links all the short stories together in a brilliant way.

Steve Buscemi, Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Cate Blanchett, Jack and Meg White, GZA RZA (Wu- Tang clan) and Bill Murray is just a few of the cast that play with their thoughts and of course coffee and cigarettes.

One of my favourite short stories is "SOMEWHERE IN CALIFORNIA” with Iggy Pop and Tom waits. Of course because those two are amazing artists but also because the scene shows two old rockers trying to get along but only ends up in awkward conversations and silence. It’s just fucking awesome!

For our new home we needed heeeeeeeaps of stuff. So we decided to go to IKEA for a shopping spree.  Potts, pans, cutlery, knifes, plates, glasses, pillows, bed linen, lamps... you name it- we bought it! And to make it a little bit more exciting we brought passion pop dressed up like ice tea.

We pretty soon adopted the IKEA elk who sat in the kids seat in the trolley, but he was  such a rascal and tried to steal our passion  all the time so we put him in a glass jar as punishment for the rest of the day.

Then it was time for fashion show. It's amazing how variably the IKEA stuff is!
Here we have the IKEA "ESCIMO" and the IKEA " NÄCKEN".

On the way home we found a trolley, how convenient! But I tell you it was a struggle to push it all the way up the hill to our house, but it was totally worth it when a 6-pack of cold beers were waiting at the top!

Thank you Ingvar Kamprad, you saved our home!

Song of the week

The song of the week goes to "Soft" with King of Leon (you find it on the album "aha shake heartbrake"). The first song I ever heard by Kings of Leon was "sex on fire" and I hated it. It was way to hyped and commercial for my taste, so I never payed more attention to them. But then I heard their previous albums, and I just love them! And the song "soft" is well.... what can I say, very catchy and has very funny lyrics. Im just saying: this is for all you boys ;)

Flow it, show it, long as God can grow it, my hair!

My hairstyle history has it ups and downs. The last couple of years I always wanted to have long beautiful hair. But for some reason when i get close to the goal I always cut it all off. Whether I'm just bored of it or get really drunk and let other people cut it off just for fun.

Here's some hairstyles i had the last 3 years.

What's your favourite?

Fear and FLOODING in Brisbane

So we survived the floods in Brisbane, wow what an adventure.
It all started Tuesday morning when the area around our work was evacuated. Malli and me went home without any problems and when we came home we laughed at the situation. We walked to the Brisbane River, which runs just a few 100 meters from our house. But it looked fine; it would take A LOT before our area would be flooded. But we were wrong, so wrong.

We sat and chilled with a few beers in our kitchen with the German couple that moved in just 2 weeks before. After a few beers we decided to go to the casino, just for fun. We left the house 7ish pm with no signs of the flood.

On Our way home from the casino, that by the way was very empty. Malli and me decided to go to McDonalds that is pretty close to home. When we a few 100 meters away from McD realised that the Golden M wasn’t shining anymore, we new something was wrong. We took a shortcut close to the Sun Corp stadium and there we got in contact with the first sign of the flood. The whole street was filled with water up to our ankles. But a little bit tipsy we just laughed about it and went home.

When we came home (about 11 pm) the ground in the backyard to our house and a little bit of the street was starting to be filled with water. It was really weird because it wasn’t raining and the river wasn’t flooded jet. It was like the ground just said “fuck this” and let go of the water from 4 months rain. We all sat in the kitchen just looking at the water go higher and higher. Step by step of the stairs to the house disappeared under water, it was about one step per 40 min.

We decided to go to bed and just see what happens in the morning, if we have to leave the house or if we could stay.  We woke up 7 am Wednesday morning, the sun was shining trough the window, kinda’ ironic because it was like the first time in weeks the sun was showing his little face.  I looked outside on both sides of the house. And WOW our rat hole to house had turned into a houseboat! Wiiie! What I always wanted. The dirty brown stinky water had risen a lot during the night and garbage bins, a fridge was floating around and a few cars was half flooded.

We sat around a bit just looking at the surreal view.  A man walked pass in the water with his dog on a surfing board.

We stared packing and carry all our stuff from the house about 9.30 am. The water was up to our waists and by then the drains and the toilet wasn’t working properly in the house. Well I guess we were lucky they didn’t flood during the night and we woke up to shit floating around in the house, that’s for sure.

When all our stuff was out from the house, (around 11 am) the water was up to our chests. We said goodbye to the house and went to Mallis sister Rebecca’s place.  Very nice of her host family to open up their home for us.

We haven’t been at the house since. But the German couple was there to check it out a few days later and it was flooded about 0.5 meters inside the house. The carpets and walls was full of stinky mud, the electricity was gone, totally unliveable.

The following week was stressful. We didn’t know what to do, were to go, if we could find a new place to live etc. For a few days we couldn’t even go any were because all the roads were closed. And all the food stores were closed because all the crazy people panicked and bough one year supply of food in one day!

Everyday we saw on the news people loosing their homes, workplaces, pets even family and friends.  A total disaster and we just laughed about it in the beginning, not good for your karma.

But everything starts to go back to normal, at least for Malli and me. It was just a fucking haemorrhoids pain in the ass!

Video of the week

Man VS Goat

I laughed so hard I nearly pissed my pants!

Live fast die young

We all know life is short. And what you do with your life is up to you. If you let some other fucker tell you how to live your life you’re wasting it that’s for sure.  I don’t wanna sit old and grumpy in my old scruffy stinky couch watching TV thinking: “what happened with my life?  Is this it? Why didn’t I do this or that?”  Life is to short for regrets. So tell me what do you wanna do before you die or are too old to do it..?

This is a few silly things I wanna do before my heart stop beating or my mind is damage of  old people diseases. And I pretty sure more things will be added to the list later on.

Travel the world
See all my favourite artists/bands LIVE
Get married in Las Vegas
Play in a band
Ride an elephant and a camel
Meet Tom Waits
Piss on Hitlers grave

Yeah then I would either die happy or sit in my old scruffy stinky couch happy.

Live fast die young people!

Is this how me and Malli would look like if we get old?

Flabby and hairy. What can I say?
Just NOT sexy.

It doesn't matter how sexy or how good
he is in bed, if he has a creepy sexface it's
just impossible to enjoy the sex.

This is a big NO-NO if you want to score
a girl. Especially if you have a hairy one.

I don't understand the meaning of this,
but it's not sexy thats for sure. It only
      make guys look gay.

Guys who think they're sooo sexy and cool
and think they can score any chick they
       want. It's just disgusting!

My backpacker wardrobe

Travel light is a key when it comes to backpacking. Even tho’ I’m not really backpacking at the moment my backpack is still pretty light if you compare it to how much clothes I use to have back home. The thing is the only time you actually buy new clothes is when you really NEED to. When your singlets are full of greasy stains or holes from the hungry moths. So I’m gonna give you a little silly fashion show of my favourite clothes in my backpack:

Album of the week

Album of the week goes to The FALL with Gorillaz.
To be honest have I never been a huge Gorillaz fan,
but time makes you wiser and I understand now what
Damon Albarns project is all about. And the fact that
this entire album is created and recorded on an iPad
makes it even more amazing. Good on you Mr. Albarn,
You really know how to make a useless thing like the
                                 iPad USEFUL.
